1. To find out and communicate what people want from health and social care services
To develop a strategic plan/direction for the Membership Scheme
To gather the views of people on priorities in health and social care so that they can influence policy, commissioning and service delivery.
To formally report the experience of patients, service users, carers and families to the Minister for Health on the work of the Bamford Monitoring Group by 30th September 2011.
To work with the children and young people to understand their priorities for health and social care.
2. To establish the Patient and Client Council as an influential and independent organisation
To undertake a major project aimed at promoting the provision of an appropriate advice and information service about Health and Social Care for people in Northern Ireland.
To deliver pilot projects that ensure patient and public involvement in primary care, particularly General Medical Practitioners, using the Patient and Client Council Membership Scheme.
To provide, through Personal and Public Involvement methods, evidence to the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety which influences policy and service development.
3. To lead the development of an advocacy framework in health and social care.
To develop a strategy for the future development of the Patient and Client Council advocacy service.
4. To establish an organisation that is fit for purpose and value for money
To meet the governance demands of an Non-Departmental Public Body.
