The Department of Health are seeking a patient or carer representative for a place on a Medicines Optimisation Quality Framework (MOQF) work stream group to help improve the safety and effectiveness of how people use medicines. ‘The Innovation Work Stream’ will support implementation of the MOQF.
The MOQF is the strategic document for improvement and reform in medicines safety and effectiveness across health and social care in Northern Ireland. It seeks to support change, reduce risk and improve health outcomes for the population across HSC, through partnership working where possible.
This group will focus on devising new ways to improve people’s use of medicines in the health service. It is about involving patients and carers in decisions about their medicines to ensure that they are getting the best possible use from them.
The MOQF want to ensure that the views of patients, service users, carers and families are heard and taken on board when planning, developing and transforming Health and Social Care Services. In the spirit of co-production, the patient representatives will, through their views and experiences, contribute to the decision making process that may affect patients and carers.
Other members of this group will include representatives from the DoH, Health and Social Care Board, Health and Social Care Trusts, General Practice and Community Pharmacy.
The Work involved will include;

Time? - Involvement with this group will require attendance at one meeting every two months, each meeting lasting approximately 2-3 hours. Meetings will be held Monday-Friday during the hours of 9-5pm, usually beginning at either 10am or 2pm.
Where? - The venue will be Department of Health (DoH), Castle Buildings, Stormont Estate Belfast, which is easily accessible by public transport. Parking is also available.
Expenses? - Travelling expenses will be met by the Department.
