We all know the importance of sharing our experiences to improve health and social care services. In this week’s blog, Vi Gray, Patient and Client Experience Lead for the 10,000 Voices project in the Western Health and Social Care Trust tells us about their latest survey on mental health services…
Listening and acting on people’s views and experiences is recognised as a key element in the delivery of high-quality healthcare. In line with this, the Public Health Agency (PHA) is carrying out an extensive piece of work across all Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland, with the aim of introducing a more patient and client-focused approach to services and shaping future healthcare in Northern Ireland.
This is called 10,000 More Voices: www.10000morevoices.hscni.net. Unlike other healthcare questionnaires, this initiative gives you an opportunity to highlight what is important to you, such as what you particularly liked or disliked about the experience and what matters to you.
We want to ensure that everyone who uses our health and social care services has an opportunity to give us their feedback on how they felt whilst receiving care. The information they give us will help us in the following ways:
From January to April 2019 we are carrying out a survey on mental health services. We are keen to hear from anyone who has used mental health services within the last 12 months either personally, or as a carer or relative. We want to highlight the key messages we hear from people that have used our services to inform recommendations at both a local and regional level. What impact did the service have on your health and wellbeing? What did you like or dislike about your experience? What could be improved? What mattered to you? What made the difference? Visit www.10000morevoices.hscni.net and follow the links to our Mental Health survey to share your story.
